What is CryoPen Treatment?

CryoPen is an innovative handheld device that uses advanced cooling techniques to treat benign lesions on the skin with pinpoint accuracy.

With this pen-shaped applicator, there’s no need for cryogenic gases or anesthetics. Treatment is quick, effective and minimally invasive, while being safe enough to use on all skin types and children. This technology is the ideal solution to use on unwanted blemishes such as skin tags, warts and pigmentation, with treatment taking less than 30 seconds per lesion.

What does CryoPen treat?

CryoPen can effectively target and remove benign skin imperfections such as:

  • Age spots
  • Cherry angiomas
  • Warts
  • Verrucae
  • Milia
  • Skin tags
  • Sun damage

This procedure freezes the area with nitrous oxide, which destroys the unwanted cells in a safe and controlled way. Given the precision of the pen, healthy skin cells are avoided, and application is quick and direct.

How long does it take to heal?

Following treatment, it can take one to six weeks to see the completed results. The affected area will become a darker colour than the surrounds, growing extremely dry until it eventually scabs and falls off, to be replaced by fresh new skin cells.

How many CryoPen treatment sessions are needed?

The number of treatments needed for CryoPen therapy will depend on the size and severity of the lesions, although typically only one session will be required.

Does CryoPen therapy hurt?

You may experience some discomfort when receiving CryoPen treatment. However, the procedure typically lasts less than 30 seconds, and the discomfort is temporary.

Following treatment, it is common to experience redness, swelling and blistering around the affected area, which should subside in a few days. It’s a good idea to let the area heal without picking any scabbing that arises as part of the natural healing process.

You may wish to use a bandage or plaster to dress the area, to help protect it and keep it clean, but ensure you expose the treatment to air often. Any swelling or stinging should subside after a day or two, but seek medical attention if you’re concerned that any infection has occurred.

It’s recommended to avoid swimming, sunbathing or using a sauna for at least 48 hours after the procedure. It’s also best to avoid applying makeup or skincare products to the treatment area.

Do I need downtime following CryoPen treatment?

Typically, no downtime is required following a CryoPen procedure. It’s important to keep an eye on the area to ensure it’s healing properly, but you should feel well enough to carry out your day-to-day tasks and return to work as normal.
