PRP Hair Growth in Newcastle

PRP Hair Growth Treatment in Fenham, Newcastle
Noticing more hair in your brush, a wider parting or a thinner ponytail can knock your confidence. At Glamaholic in Fenham, Newcastle, we offer PRP hair growth treatment in a private, hijab friendly room, starting with a free hair loss consultation where we look at your scalp, talk through your history and tell you honestly whether PRP is right for you.
What is PRP?
PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. We take a small amount of your own blood, spin it in a centrifuge to separate the platelet rich plasma, and inject it into the areas of your scalp where the hair is thinning. Platelets contain growth factors, and the aim is to support the hair follicles so they produce stronger hair. Because PRP comes from your own blood, there is nothing synthetic injected into your scalp.
Is PRP right for me?
PRP is most often used for pattern hair loss, known medically as androgenetic alopecia. It is the most common type of hair loss in both women and men (Alopecia UK). We want to be honest with you: the British Association of Dermatologists says research on PRP is still too limited to know exactly when and how it works, and it is not offered on the NHS (BAD patient leaflet). Results vary from person to person, which is why we always start with a consultation.
If your hair loss is sudden, patchy, or comes with an itchy or sore scalp, please see your GP first. The NHS has a helpful guide to the causes of hair loss.

What happens at your appointment
- Consultation. We check your scalp, your hair loss pattern and your medical history.
- Blood sample. A small sample is taken from your arm. It feels just like a routine blood test, so no numbing is needed.
- Preparing your PRP. The sample is spun to separate the platelet rich plasma.
- Treatment. The PRP is placed into the thinning areas of your scalp with a very thin, short probe. It is not painful, though some people find it a little uncomfortable.
- Aftercare. For a while after your session, avoid washing your hair, heat, exercise and hair products. We go through your full aftercare with you in the salon after your treatment.
Who should not have PRP
PRP hair growth is not suitable if you:
- are pregnant or breastfeeding
- have a blood disorder
- take blood thinning medicines
- have a scalp infection
If you have any other scalp condition or irregularity, please speak to us before booking, as PRP may not be right for you. We check all of this at your free consultation.
Frequently asked questions
How many sessions will I need?
We usually recommend a course of 6 sessions, roughly 3 weeks apart. Results vary, and we review your progress as we go.
Can PRP be used on the face too?
Yes. We also offer PRP Face Rejuvenation (£100), PRP Eye Rejuvenation (£100), PRP Neck and Décolletage (£100) and the Vampire Facial (£199). See all prices on our prices page.
Does PRP hurt?
Taking the blood feels just like a routine blood test, so no numbing is needed. For the scalp we use a very thin, short probe. It is not painful, though some people find it a little uncomfortable.
Do polynucleotides help hair loss?
No. Polynucleotides are a skin treatment and do not work for hair loss, so we do not offer them for hair. For thinning hair we recommend PRP, microneedling or meso. For skin, see our polynucleotides page.
Is it hijab friendly?
Yes. Your treatment takes place in a private room. See our hijab friendly salon page.
