Verruca Removal in Newcastle: Clear After 3 CryoPen Sessions

Verruca Removal in Newcastle: Clear After 3 CryoPen Sessions

This verruca removal case study follows Luisa, who came to us after living with verrucas on the sole of her foot for two years. On the surface only a few small spots showed, but they were so painful she couldn’t walk on her foot, and nothing she had tried at home had worked. When we gently pared back the hard skin with a blade, we found more than 10 verrucas across the ball of her foot and under her big toe, some grown together into one large patch.

Over her sessions the verrucas shrank and the skin healed, and after the third session her foot was clear.

Her CryoPen verruca treatment

At each visit we gently pared back the hard skin over each verruca first, so the cold could reach the root. Then we treated each one with the CryoPen. It sends a fine jet of freezing cold onto the verruca with great accuracy, so the healthy skin around it isn’t touched. Each spot only takes a few seconds, and most clients describe it as a sharp sting that passes quickly. We use the genuine CryoPen from IvanMed, the UK supplier.

Why verrucas are hard to get rid of at home

Verrucas grow inwards because of the pressure of walking, so the root sits deep under a layer of hard skin. Plasters and creams from the chemist often only treat the surface, which is why many people try them for months with little change. Paring back the hard skin and freezing the verruca at the root gives a much better chance of clearing it. You can read more about warts and verrucas on the NHS website.

How many sessions does verruca removal take?

It depends on the size, depth and number of verrucas. Small single verrucas can clear after one session, while larger or clustered ones, like Luisa’s, usually need a few. We leave time between sessions so the skin can heal and we can see how the verruca is responding. Between sessions, keep your feet dry, change your socks every day and wear flip-flops in changing rooms. This helps stop new verrucas forming while the treated ones heal.

Aftercare after CryoPen verruca removal

The treated area may look darker, feel tender or form a small blister for a few days. This is normal and part of the healing. Keep it clean and dry, cover it with a plaster when you’re out, and let any scab fall off on its own. Avoid swimming, saunas and walking barefoot in communal areas for at least 48 hours, and don’t share towels while it heals.
